Queer and Community

Our sharded appetite - Original by Jonny Anthony
Watercolour on paper

Not pride as slogan or performance, but pride as something lived openly and without apology. The figure in this painting stands firmly inside his own identity, grounded in queer community and confident in his place within it.

The subject is a trans queer man who shares his life and sexuality openly online. Known as @tdickdom on Twitter and @tbearswag_ on Instagram, he moves through queer spaces with openness and generosity. His posts often point outward rather than inward, tagging events, people, and communities, lifting others up while claiming space for himself. Sexuality here is not isolated. It is social, shared, and deeply connected to belonging.

The image draws from a moment of anticipation around a queer kink event. It carries the energy of participation rather than spectacle. He is dressed in latex or rubber, fitted tightly to his body. It does not disguise or transform him. It isn’t a costumed armour or tool of roleplay. It simply sits on the body he already owns. What is being offered is authenticity rather than his own fantasy.

Transness is central to this work, not as explanation or statement, but as fact. He does not perform masculinity to be validated by others. He inhabits it. His confidence comes from knowing who he is and trusting that it is enough.

What makes this image powerful is how sexuality and identity move together without conflict. His erotic self-expression does not feel separate from his politics, his community focus, or his sense of responsibility to others. There is an ease in how these aspects coexist. The sexual confidence on display feels earned, shaped through connection rather than isolation. Strangely, this form of sexual expression is one of the rarest and most pure in a world where performance and escapism dominate.

This work is not about fetish as spectacle. It is about queer visibility as lived experience. It is about being seen by people who share your language, your codes, and your values. It is about taking pleasure in being desired without surrendering control over how that desire is framed.

As an artist, I am interested in moments like this. Moments where queer and trans bodies are not explained, defended, or softened. Moments where sexuality is presented as something owned and shared on one’s own terms. This painting exists to honour that self-possession.

This piece forms part of my ongoing NSFW practice focused on queer, trans, and kink centred sexual expression. These works are celebratory, intentional, and grounded in respect for the subjects who choose to be seen.

Commissions are open. I am interested in working with people who understand their sexuality and identity as inseparable, and who want that complexity rendered with care.
